East Georgia Regional Medical Center and Cigna have finalized a multi-year agreement that restores in-network access for patients holding Cigna insurance plans. The contract becomes effective on August 1, 2026, and covers services provided by the hospital along with its employed physicians and specialists.

Stephen Pennington, the chief executive officer at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, stated that the resolution benefits patients by allowing them to access necessary healthcare services near their homes. He emphasized the hospital's ongoing commitment to investing in its services and advancing the quality of care for patients, families, and the community.

Cigna members are receiving notifications regarding the new agreement through email and mailed letters from the hospital. Individuals who had appointments or procedures postponed during the negotiation period are advised to contact their provider’s office to reschedule or to schedule a new appointment.

Patients with questions regarding their specific coverage or plan details are encouraged to contact Cigna directly using the customer service number located on the back of their insurance cards. The hospital is owned in part by physicians and aims to provide quality healthcare services in a safe and compassionate environment.

CIGNA employs about 800 people in Denison, according to local government records.
