Grayson College is taking a lead regional role in a three-year effort to make the path from school to a career easier to navigate across Texoma.

The Greater Texas Foundation awarded $1 million to the nonprofit Economic Mobility Center for the Rural Promise of Economic Mobility initiative, the college announced Sept. 28. Grayson is a partner in the work, rather than the sole recipient of a $1 million college grant.

The project will support redesigned advising, better alignment of dual-credit courses, more work-based learning and a regional data hub for education and workforce partners.

It builds on Texoma Promise, launched by the college and the center in 2021. The aim is to connect choices made during school with later college credentials and employment.

For Denison, home to Grayson’s main campus, the announcement is about regional education planning. It does not announce an individual student cash award or a new application deadline.
