Caterpillar Inc. announced on July 2 that it will invest $5 million in workforce development programs across Texas. The Irving-based manufacturer unveiled the funding at its engine facility in Seguin, which spans 1.7 million square feet. This allocation supports the company’s Building the Future Workforce Initiative, a $100 million program launched last October. Indiana was the first state to receive funding under that initiative.
The Texas investment will focus on training for advanced manufacturing roles. Caterpillar plans to collaborate with several local organizations to implement the program. Partners include Texas State Technical College, the Manufacturing Institute, and the Seguin Economic Development Corp. The goal is to prepare workers for current and future technology and manufacturing careers.
Christy Pambianchi, Caterpillar’s chief human resources officer, described Texas as a manufacturing powerhouse and a vital hub for innovation. She stated that the company is leveraging these strengths to build a skilled workforce. The pledge aims to equip Texans with the skills needed for today’s jobs and the advanced technology careers of tomorrow.
The company selected Texas as the next focus of its $100 million workforce investment. Details regarding the specific timeline for program implementation or the exact number of jobs targeted were not provided in the announcement. Further information on how the funds will be distributed among the partner organizations is not yet clear.
