The recently premiered series "Dutton Ranch," a sequel to "Yellowstone," was filmed entirely across North Texas, providing a boost to the local economy. The production took place between August 2025 and March 2026, utilizing locations such as Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells, Fort Worth, and Dallas, which served as substitutes for the fictional town of Rio Paloma.
Ferris, located about 18 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, played a notable role in the filming. The landscapes showcased in the series primarily feature the grasslands and mesquite of Parker, Wise, and Johnson counties, rather than the Rio Grande Valley depicted in the storyline.
"Dutton Ranch" premiered on May 15, 2026, with two episodes available at launch, and continued weekly through a nine-episode season, concluding on July 3. The show achieved a remarkable viewership, drawing 12.9 million global viewers in its first week, marking it as the largest original series launch in Paramount+ history. The series is now streaming on the platform.
The production benefited from Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which offers cash grants to qualifying projects based on their in-state spending, positively impacting local businesses. Paramount+ has already renewed the series for a second season, although a premiere date has yet to be announced.
