Rantanen's four points, Oettinger's shutout carry Stars past Sabres 4-0

Mikko Rantanen had a goal and three assists and Jake Oettinger made 26 saves as the Stars blanked the Sabres 4-0 Thursday in Buffalo.

Mikko Rantanen had a goal and three assists, and Jake Oettinger stopped all 26 shots he faced as the Dallas Stars shut out the Buffalo Sabres 4-0 on Thursday night at KeyBank Center. ESPN noted it was Oettinger's second straight shutout.

Jason Robertson gave Dallas the lead at 9:03 of the first period, scoring on a snap shot set up by Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston.

The Stars put the game away with three goals in the second period. Sam Steel made it 2-0 at 9:36, with Thomas Harley and Rantanen assisting. Rantanen scored on a backhand at 13:57, with helpers from Nils Lundkvist and Johnston. Roope Hintz capped the scoring with a power-play goal at 15:34, assisted by Johnston and Rantanen.

Neither team scored in the third period.

Rantanen's four points included his second goal of the season. Johnston finished with three assists. Buffalo goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 14 saves on 18 shots.

The win evened Dallas at 2-2-0. Buffalo is also 2-2-0. The game drew 19,070 fans.
