Bucky Irving ran for 165 yards and scored twice as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on Thursday night at AT&T Stadium, giving Tampa Bay its first win of the season.

Irving carried 21 times, broke off a 72-yard run and scored on a 1-yard plunge. He also caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, who completed 19 of 25 throws for 189 yards and did not throw an interception.

How it unfolded

Dallas scored first when Javonte Williams went in from a yard out in the first quarter. Tampa Bay tied it early in the second quarter with the Daniels-to-Irving touchdown, and Brandon Aubrey's 41-yard field goal with 21 seconds left in the half sent the Cowboys to the locker room up 10-7.

The game turned in the third quarter, when the Buccaneers scored 17 straight points. Emeka Egbuka ran 14 yards for a touchdown a minute into the half, Irving added his 1-yard score and Chase McLaughlin kicked a 41-yard field goal to make it 24-10.

Dallas answered with 5:26 left when Dak Prescott found George Pickens for an 18-yard touchdown, but the two-point pass failed and the Cowboys could not get closer.

By the numbers

Prescott threw for 316 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-42 passing but was intercepted twice, by Yaya Diaby and Alex Anzalone. Pickens caught nine passes for 130 yards, and Ryan Flournoy had three catches for 90 yards. Williams finished with 45 yards on 12 carries.

Tez Johnson's only catch for Tampa Bay went for 64 yards.
