Late Surge Decides Tight Affair
The Dallas Cowboys held on for a 34-30 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday at Reliant Stadium. The game’s decisive moment came in the fourth quarter when CeeDee Lamb caught a 12-yard pass from Dak Prescott for a touchdown, giving Dallas the lead it would not relinquish.
That play capped a dominant final two quarters for the visitors, who erased a significant deficit to secure their second win of the season.
Early Field Goal Battle
The first half was defined by special teams and field goals. Houston opened the scoring with a seven-yard pass from C.J. Stroud to Nico Collins, followed by a 51-yard field goal from Ka’imi Fairbairn.
The Cowboys responded with 39- and 50-yard field goals by Brandon Aubrey. By the end of the second quarter, the Texans led 16-6 after Fairbairn connected on a 39-yarder and a 54-yarder. The first half saw no rushing touchdowns, with the score hinging almost entirely on kicking accuracy.
Third Quarter Momentum Shift
The third quarter marked the turning point for Dallas. Javonte Williams broke through for an eight-yard rushing touchdown, cutting the lead to three points. Houston answered with a 22-yard pass from Stroud to Collins, but Williams immediately replied with a one-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 20-23.
