City Council to Review Sign Code Amendments and Create Sign Board Division

Proposed Ordinance Details

The City Council will receive a report and hold a discussion regarding an ordinance that amends Chapter 19 of the municipal code in its entirety.

The proposed legislation also modifies Chapter 2, Article II to create Division 8, which establishes a new Sign Board.

Current sign regulations have not undergone a significant review since 2013.

Legislative Timeline

City staff initiated a comprehensive review of the sign chapter in 2023 and provided a project update to the council on February 3, 2025.

The council tabled the item on June 15, 2026, before holding a work session on June 23, 2026, to provide additional direction.

Staff subsequently met with the Sign Committee and development community members on June 29, 2026, and the council tabled the measure again on July 13, 2026.

Next Steps for Council Action

The agenda item scheduled for September 8, 2026, requires the council to receive a report and take final action on the proposed amendments.

The meeting will address both the complete rewrite of sign regulations and the administrative creation of the new division.
