Denison residents interested in serving on a city board or commission have until Oct. 31 to apply for the 2027 appointment cycle. The city opened its application window Oct. 1 and is accepting submissions through its online Application to Serve form.
The city describes the positions as volunteer public service and cautions that some boards have special qualifications. All require a commitment of time. Denison has about 20 active boards and commissions; many advise the City Council, while others carry responsibilities established by law.
Applicants can select their area of interest on the form. Listed options include the Public Library Advisory Board, Historic Preservation Board, Main Street Advisory Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and several other bodies. The form also asks about residency, occupation, recent board service and qualifications, with space to describe education, experience and other information relevant to an appointment.
Residents who prefer a paper application can access a printable version from the same page and return it by mail or hand delivery. The city provides links to its board directory and policy manual so prospective applicants can review the roles before choosing where to serve.
